CARMA is a Network under the Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Program (CBMP) which reports to the Arctic Council's Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna Group (CAFF)

The initial stages of the CARMA Network formation were funded by the International Arctic Science Commitee (IASC).

CARMA organizational meetings in 2004, 2005 and 2006 were funded jointly by the Natural Resources Canada's Climate Change Action Fund (CCAF) and Environment Canada's Northern Ecosystem Initiative (NEI).

Since 2007 funding for CARMA annual gatherings and CARMA sponsored projects have been funded by Canadian International Polar Year (Canadian IPY).

Administration of CARMA is conducted through the Northern Research Institute (NRI) of Yukon College (YC)

Many agencies, co-management groups and Universities have providing funding for their members to participate in CARMA annual gatherings and additional planning meetings.
